Enlightenment-realizing that much of what you think is unnecessary.

Yes, I have found that when breathing stops due to contemplation, you are already
centered and Self-conscious and further attention to breathing is
counterproductive, (contrast this to the “not breathing” that occurs
during the course of normal or exciting activities). Looking into the body or
central channel as you prefer is a great way to place you in the present; and
that is to empty you.

If you transcend, it will be momentary, and you will have no knowledge of it (it
is not possible to realize), you may reappear (become conscious of self) with a
feeling of refreshment. It is not necessary, though.

I see enlightenment as a deep attention to the present, knowing that your
thoughts, reactions, and possessions are usually inconsequential. It’s a real
ego buster. You laugh at yourself.

The techniques we speak about help us to learn to put space between our thoughts,
emotions, etc. and our broad quiet consciousness or witness.

The techniques are of limited value unless we learn to distrust or question our rambling
repetitive thoughts that occur during most of the day, that’s the functional
outcome. Sure, some of the thoughts have value, but just some.

Creativity

Look and study outside of your industry (transcendence, manufacturing, whatever.)! Find out for yourself; your ideas do not have to be built on the “shoulders of giants” (reference after reference)! Give it a gut check. Believe in your new model. You are the expert in this new area.

The Yoga of Silent Sound II

Internal (Silent) Bija Mantra Meditation-Used to neutralize oscillations (thought/word manifestations)

There is a web of near silent sound (vibration) that is said to underlie the natural world, this is a field of potential for all sound. Furthermore, differences in sound and rhythm do help differentiate everything in the natural world. Rishis (ancient thinkers) decided to use
partial samples (small units) of sound to help lead practitioners through what we consider to be the natural world and then back to the source of stillness. (The partial sound repeated in the manifest “real” world is said to have a natural tendency to move towards its’ source (potential or full vibratory silence)).

Silent Sound Meditation

Seed sound/silent sound meditation is not prayer. The activity is about facilitating s/Self-organization. True seed sounds (bija mantras) are neutral syllables. They DO NOT represent things, gods, etc. Some other types of words could be used in “silent sound” meditation. However, I would not suggest using your pet’s name for example. Wouldn’t it be difficult to silence your mind by repeating “spot, spot, spot”? Then think: is spot hungry? Is he eating a pillow? Does he need to go outside? I think that could be rough for most people. It is best to have a focal point that doesn’t draw you out, which is why seed
sounds are preferred.

Yoga for the community

Think more about “Yoga for the community”, than about the “Yoga community”. Make Yoga as exotic as a salad. A salad doesn’t scare many people. Yoga only “looks” like it’s about flexibility, do not forget about strength.

Do all you can to prevent Yoga from being a show. It can take forever to understand that Yoga is personal and that you must focus on internal sensations. Only when you feel safe enough to do this will healing/growth begin.

Be irreverent or questioning sometimes, it won’t hurt you or your Self; Leave
artificial spirituality outside of class and outside of your life. Laugh.

If you literally need to see the world upside down to facilitate change, be careful.

Do Not Look Into the Light (yet); It Stings

1. There sometimes seems to be a struggle between the ego (our personalized, conditioned self) and our quest for peace and progress. It has been said that an ego that is not centered or grounded may be threatened as you start to challenge the worth
of your constant mental chatter, or as you try to spend more time in silence, immersing yourself in the wider fabric of things/Source/Spirit/Self. You know, it does seem that in some cases you (the surface ego) may really prefer to keep things as they are. Does
this protect you from failure or are you truly undeserving of goal accomplishment?

For our purposes the ego can also be called the mind. The mind loves to evaluate, and is a wonderful and necessary tool used to create a successful life. When working without direction, though, it can be obsessed with risk management (it searches to see if there is something you should be worrying about). It is neither the seat of creativity nor someone you want to visit with all day. The undirected, anxious ego/mind likes nothing better than to tie one to the past and create fear for the future. Does it feel that hindering your
freedom will ensure its continued dominance or are you truly undeserving of goal accomplishment?

2. You matter. In various spiritual teachings, there is talk about our physical world and our body as being illusions or not real. These words are just pointers, something
to make you think. They really mean that although our bodies and physical world
are spirit/energy made manifest, they are not permanent. Even more importantly
and deservedly so, the pointers want us to consider that sometimes our thinking
(especially when at odds with growth) is highly suspect, an illusion. Yes, physical life is temporary and fleeting but it is real. Impermanence does not mean illusion. Some of our judgments, however, may be illusions. Live in the present with your body and Self-awareness. It is your heritage, spend more time here. They are fully real.

3. You can practice techniques to increase discernment/integration by learning to contact or immerse yourself in the Source of Energy/Silence/Self. Have you ever noticed how many experts in the field of spiritual living eventually minimize their years of practicing single-pointed focus, deep relaxation and other wisdom techniques? Yes, many gained Insight after they stopped their practices, but does that mean the preparation was of no value? This begs the question should it be necessary to have to practice or work towards something we already are (?)- A body filled with essential and all-encompassing Energy. Well, I wouldn’t think so. But many times we do.

4. Meditation taught by a holistic teacher should not challenge your religious beliefs. Realize, however, repeated practice of meditation could make you feel closer to your own spiritual roots.

5. Your mind is a wonderful tool, but you must hold the tool and direct its use. You need it to function, then let it rest. When you do purposely
think (using mind as a tool)-listen with heart and hara ((viscera)/solar
plexus).

6. Plan, Visualize, Act, and Regularly Retreat to your Source. Remember your power and purpose. Work your plan for its intrinsic enjoyment. Now, you have succeeded!

Just One thing for the children

Mom, the young girl asked, could you help me become more brave? I miss Dad and my brother, especially today.

“Choose just One thing now my child, let it fill your mind. It all works out you will see, there’s nothing left to find.”

I’ll listen to the sounds outside, she said. She heard the cars and trucks and horns and the occasional yelling and barely slept at all. She didn’t feel any better…

Dad, said the young boy, I feel lonely and bored, what can I do? I miss mom and even sis, especially today.

“Choose just One thing now my child, let it fill your mind. It all works out, you will see, there’s nothing left to find.”

I’ll think of my dog, he said. He thought of his dog, his beauty, his loyalty and gentleness. Dad, he said, I still feel lonely. But, I really love my dog, and I think he needs a bath…

The boy and girl felt confused as they tried to think of just One thing. Seems everything they thought of was made of many things. I’ll just try again, they both said, I’ve think I’ve got it now.

She listened to the cars again, and then drifted to the sound. of her strong and
gentle heartbeat, she was brave alright, she found.

He listened to his pet dog’s breathe and then focused on his own, he found the
peace he was looking for, peace within his home.

“Choose just One thing now my child, let it fill your mind. It
all works out, you will see, there’s nothing left to find.”
